News

Ingrid Grana created the HP Denver Teleworkers group in LinkedIn. Read Ingrid's message and join the group:

HP Denver Teleworkers was established to unite Hewlett-Packard Company employees that work remotely from a home office in Denver, Colorado and surrounding metro areas. Please join us to discuss various topics such as current events, news, jobs, local happenings, staying focused in a home office environment, etc. We will meet every other month for dinners, happy hours, networking events, skiing or hiking day trips and much more. HP employees visiting Denver are welcome to join as well.

FYI - Email from Allison Hutson:

Take some time on Dave and Bill!

Did you know that HP supports every employee giving 4 hours of time each month to community service? That is 48 hours a year to give back! You may have heard Leo talking about this in the recent All-Hands.

Continue the Legacy. Volunteer today.

We are going to bring together a group of HP employees in the Denver area to volunteer from time to time. We hope to meet new people, have some fun, and give back to our community. If you have interest in learning more, please contact me and say you would like to be added to the distribution list.

Whether you would like to participate with our group or not (maybe on your own?), I encourage you to take a few moments to check out the HP Social Impact website

If you have questions, let me know.

Thanks and Regards,

Allison Hutson

FYI - Email from Katie Wilkinson:

I wanted to send out a quick note to you in regards to a recent partnership I have taken on. It seemed pertinent to the group and I wanted to run this by you. I have been going to Altitude Peak Fitness Boot Camp downtown for my everyday exercise needs, I have been in talks with the owner there and she is wanting to reach out to HP employees to offer a special. Many of us in the area work from home and getting into an exercise class not only breaks up the day, but also allows us an hour of socialization and health. The recent push on the HP Wellness campaign brought this to mind. So, I wanted to pass this along.

The Altitude Peak Fitness website can tell you more about the location, but if you think it's appropriate I wanted to send out a note to the group with a coupon code for online registration. The owner of the boot camp is willing to cater to our needs and perhaps offer an HP only class at a time that would work best for the group or she is also willing to offer a discount for 1st time campers at any of her existing time slots. Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

For further questions please contact Katie directly.

Hi All,

Thanks to all of you who showed up last Thursday at the Cheeky Monk for the inauguration meeting of the HP Club Denver. I enjoyed meeting all of you very much and looking forward to more of our HP Denver gatherings. I learned that Allison lives in the same neighborhood just 4 blocks away from me.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 13th, location TBD.

I am in the process of setting up a website within the HP Employee Clubs. For right now you please forward this URL to people who want to be added to the Mailing List. The URL will change as soon as the HP Club Denver website is up and running.

Stay tuned

Markus

The first few days after the initial email 25 people signed up on the mailing list and the number is growing.

We also got some recommendations for future meeting locations. The inaugural gathering including the FY11 kick-off will be at the Cheeky Monk Belgian Beer Cafe @ 534 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80203

on November 11th, 2010 @ 7 PM.

From here the plan is to get together at a different place every time we meet. Different bars, pubs, restaurants in different parts of Denver.

We're looking forward meeting you all in person soon.

Markus

Over the past few years, telework has become more and more part of our working environment.

Working from home means working alone. Even though you are in touch with your office electronically, it's not quite the same as interacting in person. One component of a pleasant working environment is being surrounded by peers to spend time with during breaks and after work. Telecommuters may feel emotionally disconnected from their in-office peers and the company.

To work against this trend we had the idea of creating a monthly or quarterly HP Club Denver "meeting" where HP employees meet, discuss rumors and other topics around HP. This could be a luncheon or a happy hour somewhere central or maybe a hike, bike ride, etc.

If you like add yourself to the HP Club Denver Mailing List
